Hand Deckled Invitations

The hand deckled edges bring an old world, very artisanal feel to these invitations. I’ve been playing with this technique on a variety of papers and have some amazing results. I’m going to try this technique with some of the botanical prints and of course, with letterpressed print… stay tuned!

Redoute Rose – Botanical on Vellum overlay

This wedding invitation with vellum overlay was inspired by the botanical illustrations of Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840). I’m thinking of adding a hand deckled edge to the printed piece to really give it the feel of something Mr. Redouté would have would with in the late 18th century. It’s hard to believe that my letterpress printing can be combined with today’s full colour digital allowing for this blend of styles spanning 259 years!!
